Child Safety Standards
Version 2.0 · Last updated October 21, 2026
Black Owned is strictly for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. This page sets out the child safety standards we hold ourselves to, in line with app store requirements and Canadian law.
Our commitment
Black Owned has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any of it — images, videos, text, links, requests, grooming, or sexualized content involving a minor — is prohibited on Black Owned. There is no exception and no warning.
What is not allowed
- Any sexual content involving a minor (anyone under 18), including drawings, cartoons, animations, and AI-generated depictions.
- Sharing, requesting, linking to, or trading child sexual abuse material.
- Grooming — building a relationship with a minor in order to sexualize or exploit them.
- Sexualizing minors in a profile, prompt, photo, message, listing, or offer.
- Sextortion, sexual extortion, or trafficking of any kind, and any attempt to contact a minor through Black Owned for sexual purposes.
Our age requirement
- You must be 18 or older to create an account and to use Black Owned.
- Every member confirms at signup that they are 18 or older, and accepts our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. That confirmation is stored with its version and timestamp on the member's account.
- If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close the account and delete the personal information attached to it.
How we act on it
- We remove any content that appears to be child sexual abuse material or exploitation, and we suspend or terminate the account involved — immediately, without notice.
- We report child sexual abuse material and child exploitation to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Cybertip.ca) and to law enforcement, including the appropriate authorities where the person is located.
- We preserve the relevant records as the law requires, and we cooperate fully with law enforcement and child protection organizations.
- We do not notify the account holder before reporting.
How to report
- In the app: use Report on any profile, post, reply, comment, or message. Every profile, post, and message has Report, and Block is available so the person can't contact you again. Our moderation team reviews reports, and child safety reports are treated as the highest priority.
- By email: privacy@blackownedapp.ca — our published point of contact for child safety matters. Tell us what you saw, where you saw it, and roughly when, if you can.
- Cybertip.ca: in Canada, you can also report directly and anonymously to Cybertip.ca, the national tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first (911 in Canada).
